Shankerpura: Catholic Sabha Shirva Varado Conference

Shankarpura, 26 January 2010: A conference of the Catholic Sabha of the Shirva Varado was hosted by the Shankerpura Unit in the Community Hall in the Church compound on Sunday, 24th January 2010 from 9.30 am to 1pm. Rev. Fr. Harold D’Souza, the parish priest of Shankerpura offered the Holy Mass and Rev. Fr. Richard Coelho, parish priest of Shirva inaugurated the programme. Mr. Terrance Martis welcomed the guests and the members of the Catholic Sabha.

Mrs. Veronica Cornelio was the resource person who spoke on the participation of the Christians in political activities. In his speech, Mr. Walter Cyril Pinto spoke about how the catholic Sabha can be developed by the people. Mr. Wilfred Gomes of Pernal who was awarded the Rajya Prashasthi by the Karnataka Government for social service in December 2009 was honoured during the programme. The programme was attended by the Shirva Varado President-Mr. William Machado, Zone President-Mr. Irwin D’Souza, Secretary-Mr. Henry Menezes and presidents of all 11 Units and secretaries.

Around 150 members of the catholic Sabha attended the programme which was anchored by Mrs.Ida Cornelio. Mrs. Norinand proposed the vote of thanks.
