Annual NSS Special Camp of Milagres College Kallianpur held at Manasa

Udupi, 03 January 2011: "Today our families have only one or two children and the parents show excessive love and so the children cannot face life. But NSS camp gives training to live together and to acquire life skills which will help them to face future life." said Ms. Remedia D’ Souza the President of Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre Pamboor and former Zilla Panchyat President while inaugurating the annual NSS Special Camp of Mangalore University’s Milagres College Unit on 26th December 2010 at Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre Pamboor-Padubelle.
Principal of Milagres College, Rev. Fr. Fred Mascarenhas presided over the inaugural programme. President of Lions Club Kallianpur Mr. Valerian Fernandes, Rotary President Mr. Sadananda Naik, Principal of Manasa-Sr. Vinney Gonsalves,NSS Programme Officers-Dr. Gerald Pinto and Smt. Aannamma and Unit Leaders-Sindura Rao,Akshatha Shetty, Prashanth K and Royson D’Souza were present. 107 students took part in the camp which was held from 26th to 31st December 2010.
During the camp the NSS volunteers organised AIDs Awareness Rally and street play along with the Red Ribbon Club of Milagres College in the 5 cents and 3 cents colonies of Pamboo,in the village of Padubelle. NSS and Red Ribbon Club members went from house to house and explained about the AIDS and they also informed the people that AIDS does not spread by living together, using common toilets or dining in the same house. Later a rally was taken in the villages and a street ply was presented. NSS programme officers Dr. Gerald Pinto and Smt Annamma directed the programme.
