Dakshina Kannada Cricket Association felicitates former cricketer Javagal Srinath
Mangaluru, 30 May 2015: The members of Dakshina Kannada Cricket Association on Friday, May 29 honoured former cricketer Javagal Srinath at Hotel Moti Mahal here.
Acknowledging the felicitation Srinath thanked the organisers and gave a call to people to encourage the young players.
"Along with education students should enhance their skills in extra curricular activities. Without the support of parents and family members it is very difficult for a child to make a name in the field he or she is interested. When children play cricket it increases their team spirit and social bonding with others. Cricket is highly based on cognitive skills. Parents should make sure that education and sports blend together," he adviced the parents.
Minister for Sports and Youth Services Abhayachandra Jain said that Javagal Srinath has already created a niche for himself in the field of cricket and he is a role model to many budding cricketers.
"As a sports minister I will do my best to promote the game in our state. Karnataka has produced number of athletes including cricketers who have brought laurels to our state. It will be my responsibility to promote every budding cricketer from the region by encouraging and supporting him or her through the government," he added.
MLC Ivan D’Souza, Chancellor of NITTE University Vinay Hegde, Vice-chancellor of NITTE University Dr Shantharam Shetty, Chairman of Shree Devi Institutions Sadananda Shetty, Director of Gopal Kamath and Company Shridar Kamath and others were present.
