Mangaluru: City Airport customs seize foreign currency from Dubai-bound passenger

Mangaluru, 20 May 2015: The customs officers at Mangaluru International Airport seized foreign currency totaling to UK Pounds 6,600 that is equivalent of Indian Rs 6,49,440 from 2 passengers – thirty-six-year-old passenger Muhammed Salih Yarool and thirty-five-year-old Muhammed Ashraf Abdulla, both hailing from Pallikere in Kasargod district of Kerala, at the time of their departure from Mangaluru International Airport by Air India Express flight number IX383 on Wednesday May 20 morning.
Both the said passengers attempted to smuggle the foreign currency out of India without valid money exchange documents @ UK Pounds 3,300 each.
Further investigation is in progress.
