Mangaluru: City Airport Customs seize over 1 Kg gold coated with silver concealed in suitcase buckle

Mangaluru, 4 Dec 2014: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport on Wednesday December 3 seized gold brought in the form of silver-paint-coated suitcase handle buckle holders, ladies handbag buckles and jeans trouser buttons, totally weighing 1033.000 grams, valued at over Rs 27 lac, all of which were kept in a trolley-suitcase, brought as checked in baggage carried by a passenger, who arrived from Dubai.
The passenger forty-four-year-old Abdul Gaffoor Kadappuram is the son of Ahamed Kunhi Kaddappuram, is a resident of Moilikariyath House, K M W T 1/34, Kanhangad Post, Kasargod district, Kerala who arrived at Mangalore International Airport on Wednesday December 3 at about 08.10am by Jet Airways flight 9W531 from Dubai.
Further investigation is under progress.
