Udupi: Rs. 10 Lakhs Fund Distributed to Fisher Women Under Self Employment Program

Udupi, 14 December 2010: 10 Lakhs Fund Distributed to the members of Fisher Women Sangha of Udupi District, by Mangalore Fishing Federation Under State Govt. Self Employment Program on Sunday. Upon distribution of the cheques to the members, Yashpal A. Suvarna – President of Udupi and D. K. District Fishing Federation said that they have requested the Govt. to increase the fund of Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 25,000.
Yashpal A. Suvarna also said that the women fish sellers of Udupi District were earlier distributed with Rs. 80 lakhs and now due to their demands this additional funds were granted. The fisher women of the coastal area are refunding the amount without fail, hence the request has been forwarded to the Govt. for increasing the amount to Rs. 25,000 from next year.
Baby H. Salyan – President of Udupi District Women Fish Selling Sangha, upon receiving the cheque thanked the Fishing Federation for getting the grant from the Govt. for the total Rs. 90 lakhs funds.
On this occasion, Appi M. Bangera – Vice President of Udupi District Women Fish Selling Sangha, Ramesh Kidiyoor – Advisor, Narayana P. Kunder, Suresh B. Kunder, Harish G. Karkera, Jayanthi Gurudas – Joint Secretary and Shantha were also present.
