Mumbai, 02 Jan 2015: There are no private and luxury bus services running between Mumbai and Mangalore until the issues amongst the Bus Federation and the driver’s association are sorted out.
On anonymity a driver of Anand Travels has informed that on 1st January, 2014 at around 9.00 p.m., a Non-AC bus of Anand Travels was stopped for checking by a person claiming to be the representative of Anand Travels. During this checking, he found that some extra passengers without ticket issued by Anand Travels were also travelling in the bus. Upon inquiry regarding these extra passengers with the driver of the bus led to an argument between the said person and the driver of the said bus.
The driver further informed that all the Bus Federation Members (owners of the bus companies) were also present at the spot where this incident took place.
But no one intervened in the fight. However, it seems the bus owners had hired few local goons to fight with the bus driver. There is distress leading to this fight amongst the drivers and they decided to go on strike till their issues are sorted out by the Bus Federation. However, VRL and KRSTC services are available. The buses are on strike are Anand Travels, Canara Pinto, Vishal Travels, Sheetal travels and Canara Travels.
