M’lore: Mayor Mahabala opens exhibition of TN Handicrafts Devt Corp in city

Mangalore, 24 Oct 2014: The mayor Mahabala Marla inaugurated an exhibition-cum-sale of exclusive jewelleries organized by Poompuhar, an unit of Tamilnadu (TN) Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (TN government undertaking) at Hotel Woodlands here on Friday October 24 morning.
Speaking on the occasion, mayor Mahabala said that the exhibition has high worth some of the rarest artifacts cast out of 5 metals that are appealing to business class. Besides, there are miniature items that are affordable by common folks. The city has potential for religious objects that are of interest to others, said mayor Mahabala. He also conveyed best wishes for the exhibitors to achieve record sales.
Poompuhar Sales Showroom Bangalore branch manager S Manikandan said that they had organized an exhibition here during 2013 and achieved a total sale of Rs 15 lac and hope this time to reach Rs 30 lac. There are items with the sale price beginning from Rs 37 to Rs 50 lac. All the items are manufactured by artisans of TN government.
The exhibition has display of precious and semi precious stones, birth stones(shaped and uncut, Hyderabad natural pearls, American diamond jewellery, textiles, fashion jewellery, silver and gold plated jewellery and stone figures, bronze icons, brass oil lamps, wood carving figures and panels, carved brackets, Tanjore picture paintings, bras articles and many more.
The exhibition is open from October 24 to November 3.
