Panambur police nab gang of chain snatchers, solve 12 cases

Mangalore, 08 Oct 2014: The Pananbur police have been successful in clearing 12 cases at once after they arrested a gang of chain snatchers operating in Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod district here on Wednesday October 8.
The police also seized 12 gold chains weighing 409 grams worth Rs 11 lac, 3 motorcycles worth Rs 3 lac.
The city police commissioner Dr Hitendra informed this to media persons during press conference at his office here on Wednesday.
Dr Hitendra said, ‘The Panambur police while investigating the recent chain snatching case of a woman near Baikampady, have got the clue of motorcycle registration number. The police who traced the number were able to nab 3-members of gang involved in 12 cases of chain snatching in Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts.
The arrested has been identified as twenty-three-year-old Zakir Husain from Mumbai, twenty-three-year-old Mohammad Rizwan from Bajal and twenty-eight-year-old Irshad from Permannur here.
The team along with Panambur sub-inspector Lokesh, PSI Satish and staff of Panambur and Surathkal police station took part in the operation.
