Mangalore: A consultative meeting on the tenth anniversary of Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation Trust Mangalore was held at Goldfinch Hotel in the city.

 

Addressing the meeting M.R.G. Dr.K.Prakash Shetty, Chairman of Groof, said, "Kirti Patla Satish Shetty is credited with spreading the sound of Yakshagana, which was limited only to the coast, in the country and abroad. All of us should help and cooperate with the Patla program which is always supporting Yakshagana artistes. We should all work together to make the 10th anniversary event on June 1 unforgettable," he said.

 

Kanyana Sadashiva Shetty, Managing Director, Herambha Industries, Mumbai, Mahadani of the Trust said, “Patla Foundation has given Trust status to Yakshagana art, which has a history of hundreds of years, in the last 10 years. It is a matter of pride that Bhagavata Patla organizes a program to help artists every year by uniting all of us. A separate committee should be formed and work for this tenth anniversary program. Let the laudable work done in the past 9 years continue," he said.

 

Aikala Harish Shetty, President of Global Federation of Trade Unions, said, “I have participated in the programs of Patla Foundation for the last 9 years. It is possible because of the grace given to me by Goddess Katilu. Patla Foundation was established 9 years ago in Katilu constituency to help the poor and distressed of the society. This organization which started only for the welfare of Yakshagana artistes has today succeeded in wiping the tears of people from all sections of the society. Trust’s decennial program should be done in a different way. He said that it should be made meaningful by organizing a social program in a way that will not be forgotten in the minds of the people.

Shashidhar Shetty, chief organizer of the trust, spoke in Baroda and said, "Patla Satish Shetty worked hard to build an organization for Yakshagana artistes and now it is celebrating its tenth anniversary. 10 crores this time with the help of donors. It should be collected and put on FD and a program should be organized for the development of artists every year from the interest earned from it. He said that donors should work with one mind for this.

 

Patla Satish Shetty, founder of Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation, said, “Our trust is running successfully with the help of donors. Under the Yaksha Shiksha Abhiyan of Patla Trust, about 9000 children of 6 districts are being given Yaksha education in the last 4 years. On 31st of this month, a total of 929 children from 21 schools will perform Yakshagana at Oddur Farm from 9 am to 6 pm. MLA of Mangalore North Constituency Dr. Bharat Shetty Y. And Bantwa MLA Rajesh Naik will lead this program," he said.

 

Trust’s Purushottama Bhandari said, "In 9 years of Patla Foundation, the trust has allocated Rs. 15 crore for welfare programs. After Kanyana Sadashiva Shetty assumed the honorary chairmanship of the trust, the trust has expanded in the country and abroad. Soon the Canadian unit will start," he said.
