Udupi: Workshop in Teaching Kannada Textbook at Tenth Standard held at St. Lawrence PU College

Udupi/M’Belle, 18 Sep 2014: A daylong Workshop in teaching the Kannada Textbook at the Tenth Standard was held in St. Lawrence PU College, Hall Moodubelle on Thursday, 18 September 2014. The Workshop was organized by the Udupi District High School Kannada Teachers Association.
The inaugural function of the Workshop was held at 10 am which was presided over by Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions. Following the recitation of prayer by Mrs. Chandrakala B.E,. lecturer of Kannada in St. Lawrence PU College, Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira, Principal of St. Lawrence PU College welcomed the gathering. Thereafter, Raghavendra Herle, President of Udupi District High School Kannada Teachers Association and Senior Lecturer in Dr. TMA Pai B.Ed. College, Udupi in his introductory remark pointed out the aims and objectives and methodology of the Workshop.
The daylong Workshop was formally inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes and dignitaries on the dais by lighting the lamp. In his brief message, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes highlighted the importance of the Kannada language and said that such Workshops would help the teachers to teach the language in new light as per the requirement of the new syllabus which would benefit the students.
The Secretary of Udupi District High School Kannada Teachers Association, Ganesh Moorthy Hebbar and Mahesh Hariyadi, Senior Lecturer at the Sanskrit College, Udupi who was one of the Resource Persons were present for the inaugural function. The other two Resource persons were Dr. Jagadish Shetty, Head of the Department of History, PPC College, Udupi and Dr. Madhusudan Bhat, Principal of Upendra Pai College, Udupi.
Mrs. Sarojini Kamath, Senior Teacher in St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School proposed the vote of thanks and Srnivas Ballal compeered the programme.
