Mumbai: St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association, Mira Road celebrates Monti Fest

Mumbai, Sep 09, 2014: St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association, Mira Road ® celebrated the Monti Fest at Mira Road parish, here on Monday September 8.
Prisha and group welcomed the gathering by dance followed by senior member of Association Ronald D’Souza welcoming the gathering by traditional way by offering ‘Panpod Udak’.
The little children honored Infant Mary by showering flowers on the occasion.
The Association spiritual director Fr Nelson Pinto OCD conducted the prayers in traditional way and distributed the new paddy-sheaves to the children and parishioners alike.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Nelson Pinto said, ‘The feast of Nativity of Mother Mary is dear to Catholics of konkan coast. Lots of sentiments are involved in it. It brings together all the members of the family,’ said Fr Pinto. He congratulated all the members of the St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association who have organized the wonderful programme, where all families of the parish have come together as the member of one family.
Senior writers present for the occasion and sponsors of the programme were honored by flower bouquets.
The members of St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association, Miraroad® entertained the gathering with dances and melodious singing. During the occasion small hilarious skits ‘Alice Dhanvle’ by playwright Jerry and directed by Florine Mathias, ‘Interview’ by playwright and directed by Prasann Niddodi, ‘Pokhle’ by playwright and directed by Fr Nelson Pinto and enacted by Fr Nelson Pinto and Fr Rajesh, ‘Lottery Laglya’ directed by Hildabai and ‘Gaayk Galhi’ directed by Thomas were staged on the occasion.
Arun Noronha invited all to the dinner by traditional way ‘Jevnak Udak’. Vegetarian ‘Jevann’ was on the banana leaf and Lavdate was sung by the members of St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association at the end of the dinner.
St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association, Mira Road® president John Crasta, treasurer Lawrence Mathias and Fr Diego OCD were present at the dais.
