Moodbidri: Annual Parish Feast of Holy Rosary Church Alangar celebrated

Moodbidri, 28 October 2010: The annual parish feast of the Holy Rosary church Alangar-Moodbidri was solemnly celebrated on Wednesday, 27th October 2010. A large number of parishioners and people from neighbouring regions participated in the celebration.  The solemn feast mass was concelebrated by 25 priests. Fr. Vincent D’Souza, the parish priest of Bela was the main celebrant. Fr Harold Pereira preached very meaningful sermon on Mother Mary.

 

On Tuesday, 26th October 2010, on the eve of the annual feast the  vespers were held from 6.30 pm to 7.30pm. Fr Prem Prakash CSSR and the choir led by Harrry Tauro led the chanting of the psalms. Rev. Fr. Austin Peris conducted the Bible service, preached and gave the blessing.This being a unique celebration,  a large number of people from surrounding parishes also attended the vespers as well as the annual feast mass. The fireworks on vespers evening were sponsored by a  Francis Rasquinha. The church was colourfully illuminated. There were two pirgents (sponsors) for the annual feast- Faustine and Mary Menezes and Cynthia Correa.

 

 

 

The parish priest of the Holy Rosary Church, Fr Basil, the assistant parish priest-Fr. Anil D’Silva, vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council-Clifford Aranha, the secretary-Valerian Sequeira thanked  all the sponsors, parishioners and other people for their support and cooperation. A  pocket edition of the novena to Infant Jesus novena was released on this occasion.
