B’lore airport to be named after city founder Kempegowda: CM

Bangalore, 04 March 2011: The Bengaluru International Airport will be named after the city’s founder Kempegowda, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today said.
Speaking in the Legislative Assembly during question hour, he said the next Cabinet meeting will take a decision in this regard. Thereafter, the state government would write a letter to the Centre seeking its consent, Yeddyurappa said.
Minister for Home R Ashoka said the renaming would coincide with the 500th anniversary of the rule of Kempegowda. The issue was raised by D K Shivakumar (Cong).
