Storytelling develops critical thinking amongst children - Dr Virupaksha Devramane

Manipal, 23 Feb 2024: It is important that parents and teachers come together to develop empathy and critical thinking amongst children. Laying a firm foundation and providing ethical framework when young go a long way in building a peaceful future said Dr Virupaksha Devramane in Manipal.
During the unveiling of the children’s book "Nidhi and Minchu," published by MUP, Dr. Devramane underscored the importance of storytelling in honing critical thinking skills and enhancing language proficiency among young readers.
Authored by Ms. Rucha Sahasrabudhe and envisioned by Dr. Neeta Inamdar, the Series Editor, "Nidhi and Minchu" is the first book in the series of "Growing up with Nidhi: Children’s stories for the kind, curious, and courageous". This collection aims to spark conversations surrounding personal, relational, social, and environmental ethics, with subsequent releases planned annually for the next decade. Each book in the series includes engaging activities and colouring options, fostering an interactive learning experience for children.
Commending Manipal Universal Press for their initiative, Ms. Jessy Andrews, Principal of Madhava Kripa School, emphasized the importance of reading in a child’s development and urged both educators and parents to actively engage children through storytelling.
The book launch event, hosted jointly by Madhava Kripa School and Manipal Universal Press, culminated in a lively colouring competition for Grade one students, further promoting creativity and engagement among young learners.
