Bellary, 29 August 2010: The mining firm that is under scrutiny for its operations on Sunday said it would approach the court against the raids conducted by authorities at its office even as it ’’suspected’’ a political motive behind the move.
"We will move court against the raid conducted in our company on Saturday", V S Lad company’s co-owner Vishwas Lad said here. Speaking to reporters, he said "political conspiracy" was suspected behind the raid.
"Permit has been granted to export 30 lakh tonnes of iron ore every year. We have not been able to extract that much, so where is the question of illegal mining", he said.
If mining companies are closed, life of thousands of people will left in dire straits, he added. Police and forest department officials on Saturday raided VSL Mines owned by Congress Rajya Sabha member Anil Lad and legislator Santosh Lad at Sandur near here and seized 20,000 cubic meters of iron ore.
