Body retrieved, two still missing in boat capsize
Mangalore, 17 August 2010: The body of a fisherman, who went fishing in the boat Mahalatha Bengre, along with three others, was retrieved on Monday morning.
While two others are still missing, Anand, one of the fishermen swam to safety. Murthy from Tamil Nadu is the deceased.
The missing have been identified as Jesuraja and Kalanjamas both hailing from the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu.
The boat in which they went fishing capsized near Ullal on Sunday night, while they were on their return journey.
Inclement weather is said to be the reason for the accident.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall may lash the coastal districts in the next 48 hours.
Cold and stormy weather accompanied by rains in the district affected the operation of three flights.
The Air India flight from Gulf country was diverted to Calicut. One flight from Bangalore and another from Mumbai heading towards Mangalore were cancelled on Monday, said an official at the airport.
