Bangalore, 04 August 2010: The Bangalore leg of the fourth annual Rickshaw Challenge Mumbai Xpress-2010 was flagged off from the Round Table school in Roopena Agrahara, off Hosur Road in Bangalore on Tuesday. The 2,000 km-challenge will run for 14 days, taking its teams of international rickshaw racers on a journey across the length and breadth of the country. It began on July 30 in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai.
The journey from Chennai to Mumbai this year has 28 participants from eight countries driving 13 custom-made autorickshaws. It’s been exciting yet equally adventurous and enlightening! It was a total culture shock but it’s also been awesome fun,” one of the participants, James Stackhouse from the UK said.
Last year’s Mumbai Xpress raised over Rs 10 lakh and the goal for donations and charity support is even higher this year. The event is being organised by Bangalore Metropolitan Round Table 44 in partnership with Chennai Event Management Services.
