Puttur: Developing Social responsibility-purpose of education: Fr Alfred Pinto

Puttur, 10 Aug 2014: ‘Society recognises youngsters with social responsibility at the same time condemn the irresponsible behaviour. Therefore the purpose of education is to create responsible youths who will contribute to the growth of the country,’ said St Philomena College correspondent Fr Alfred J Pinto.
Ft Pinto was addressing the students during the orientation programme organised by the St Philomena College, Centre for Postgraduate Studies and Research here on Saturday August 9.
Speaking on the occasion, St Philomena College, Centre for Postgraduate Studies and Research chairman Fr Antony Prakash Monteiro said, ‘St Philomena College has started postgraduate courses in MSW, M Com, M Sc in physics and maths and students has registered very good results in University exams. This year the college has started M A in economics and M Sc in computer science. The aim of the college is to impart quality education to the students,’ said Fr Monteiro.
St Philomena College principal Professor Leo Norohna said, ‘Along with showing interest in their own subjects the students should also be aware of what is happening in other areas,’ said Professor Noronha.
