Mangalore, Jul 10, 2014 : The Yenepoya College with the introduction of training program of accountancy and taxation along with Association of Chartered Certified Accountants(ACCA), UK becomes the first college to introduce the training program and has taken a major step to train the students of its college employable worldwide.
ACCA business relations India head Ilham Kunjani inaugurated the training programme here on Wednesday July 9.
Ilham Kunjani in her inaugural address said, ‘The ACCA is always happy to be associated with the reputed colleges’ world wide. It is a happy moment to have associated with the Yenepoya College.’
‘The students after learning the course will become the employable partners in 180 countries since the ACCA is working as the reputed financial organization. From its journey in London, over the last 110 years it has provided employment in many portfolios in various sectors. The students of Mangalore will get a chance to have the BSc.degree from the Oxford Brooke University being in India. The opportunities for the employment are immense as there are 1000 employers of India associated with ACCA are ready to absorb the graduates. Hence the students should try to get the maximum benefit out of it,’ said Ilham Kunjani.
Speaking on the occasion, Yenepoya College managing director Mohammed Farhad Yenepoya said, ‘Today there is a gap between what is being taught in the colleges and what is required in the industry. Unfortunately the colleges are giving importance to the Academics rather than the industrial skills. Hence by channelizing their energy in the course the students should work to get the best out of it. I wish good luck to ISDC and ACCA and wish that they are able to get the expected number of students for the course, said Mohammed Farhad.
Yenepoya University academics director Professor P C M Kunhi, principal Dr Kishore Kumar Rai, International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) executive director Tomy Thomas, ISDC senior manager of strategic relations Joseph Tom were present at the occasion.
ACCA offers the three year degree course after which student becomes employable worldwide. ACCA is a counterpart of IFCA worldwide and any person with 10th or PU background can learn this in the weekends under the banner of ISDC and is planning to start its courses in association with St Aloysius College in Mangalore and the Manipal University.
