Bellary, 26 June 2010: A local court today issued a non-bailable warrant against Karnataka tourism minister G Janardhana Reddy in a case related to alleged illegal mining.
Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) K K Amarnath at Sandur in Bellary district ordered that Reddy, a mining magnate, be produced before the court on or before July 9.
This is the fourth non-bailable warrant issued by the JMFC since last December against Reddy on a case by another mine owner Tappal Narayana Reddy, accusing him and others of altering border markings on the Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh mining areas.
After the police registered a case in this connection, Reddy secured anticipatory bail later, but did not appear before the court when it issued a non-bailable warrant on December 30, 2009. Reddy was scheduled to appear before the court today, but he failed prompting the magistrate to issue another non-bailable warrant.
