Hassan: Malayalee Community Celebrates Onam in City

Hassan, 17 Sep 2013: Onam was celebrated across the district in Malayalee families including Premajyoti Organization director Shalini Varghese at Satyavangala, near here on Monday September 16.

The seven-day grand celebration was concluded with rangoli drawn on flower petals in the courtyard on Monday September 16.  The Malayalee community celebrated their harvest festival in a distinct manner with varieties of snacks, sweet dishes, and vegetarian food.  They also shared sweets with the neighbours.  It was the joyous celebration to strengthen family bonding on Onam festival.

 

The women folk and girls dressed in new dresses added flavour to the celebration.  The little children staged variety folk dances.

Onam festival is one among the major festival in Kerala which is being celebrated traditionally by the Malayalees settled in different parts of Karnataka.
