Mangalore: Laxmi Memorial College of Hotel Mgmt celebrates Onam

Mangalore, 01 Sep 2014: Laxmi Memorial College of Hotel Management celebrated Onam here on Monday September 1 at the College campus with great enthusiasm.

 

Laxmi Memorial Education Trust trustee Ashritha P Shetty, Moti Mahal Hotel executive director Shyam Prasad inaugurated the event here on Monday morning.

 

 

Laxmi Memorial College of Hotel Management principal Professor Prasanna Shetty spoke about the importance of Onam.

 

A huge Rangoli drawn by a team of students of the college headed by Assistant Professor Shailesh was a major attraction. The Rangoli depicting Kathakali measured about 42 feet in length and 18 feet in breadth. The rangoli was made out of  170 kilograms flowers and 5 Kg of rangoli powder. Flowers like marigold (orange and yellow), jasmine multiform (kakada), chrysanthemum, gerbera (red, yellow, pink, white) was used to create this unique rangoli.

 

There were 23 types of dishes prepared by the students. Fruit carving was also in display on this occasion.
