Mangalore, 10 June 2010: Less than 20 days after the Air India Express IX-812 crashed at Kenjar killing 158 persons on board the Dubai-Mangalore aircraft, another aircraft arriving from Dubai to Mangalore on Wednesday morning was diverted to Kozhikode, reportedly due to inclement weather.
Efforts to reach Airport Director Peter Abraham to know the reason for the diversion went in vain.
However, the three-hour delay in the arrival of Air India Express Dubai-Mangalore flight and the subsequent four-hour delay in its return journey gave rise to speculation among the public, especially the passengers and their kin.
Air India Station Manager Chellam Prasad told Deccan Herald that Air India Express IX-812 Dubai-Mangalore flight, which was scheduled to land at 6.30 am, was diverted to Kozhikode following inclement weather conditions. The flight arrived at Mangalore after getting clearance from the Air Traffic Control at 9.30 am.
