Grandparents day celebrated at Our lady of Rosary Church

Kundapur, 30 July 2012:  It was a grand and happy day for all the Grand Parents of Kundapur Parish as their day was celebrated on the occasion of feast of St. Jochim and St. Ann by Women’s Association of Mount Rosary Church.

 
On Sunday during children’s mass Grand Parents were brought together and Fr. Anil D’Souza celebrated the Mass.  Thereafter, a short program was held at the parish hall.  The celebration began with a short prayer and then Ms.Dazy Rodgrigues led grand parents to participate in sports.

 
Later, a brief stage program was held to honour the Grand Parents.  The president of Women’s Association Ms. Vinaya D’Costa welcomed the guests with a rose each.  The chief guest of the day Mr. Valerian Menezes was introduced by Ms. Shanti Carvallo.  The chief guest wished the grand parents all the best and advised on various governmental facilities available for old people.

 

 
Mr. Richard Almeida (one of the grand pa) expressed his feelings and Grand Ma Ms. Elizabeth D’Souza too expressed her feelings.  The Mother Superior of Kundapur Convent Sr. Viba prayed for the peace and happiness of grand parents and wished them good health and happiness.

 
The Principal of P.U College of Kundapura Rev. Fr. Pravin Martis speaking on the occasion said that he too remembered his grand parents looking at the beautiful function held for grand parents today.  He too wished the grand parents good health and peace.

 
Rev. Fr. Anil D’Souza praised Women’s Association for taking up these type of issues and conducting the Grand Parents day and making them cheerful in memory of St. Joachim and St. Ann.  He spoke highly about grand parents and humersouly said that all the grand parents will find true happiness through their grand children.

 
For this rare type of programme 35 couples along with their grand children were present was a site to watch and very unique.  On the dais President of Parish Council Mr. Michael Braganza and General Secretary Sony D’Costa were also present.  Asst. Secretary Lavina Almeida proposed the vote of thanks.  Ms. Shanti Barretto conducted the entire program beautifully and at the end hymn in honour of St. Ann was sung prior to closing of the celebrations.
