TUMKUR, 31 March 2010: A ‘dead’ woman turned up alive on Monday, after the police claimed she was murdered and buried in the forest.

The police recovered the body of an unidentified woman on March 21, murdered at Aremallenahalli forest area.

A woman named Sulochana of Dharme Gowdana Palya was missing for over a month. The police suspected the mutilated body to be that of Sulochana and had called her mother to identify it. The face was marred beyond recognition, but the mother confirmed that it was Sulochana.

Things took a turn when villagers of Sulochana’s hometown Gonitumkur spread rumours that Dharmappa, a relative of hers, might have murdered her for property.

Shocked by the accusation, Dharmappa in an attempt to acquit himself, discovered Sulochana working in a garment factory in Bangalore.

The perplexed police now have a fresh case registered, as the body they buried still remains unidentified.
