Mumbai: Quality education need of hour - Fr Harry Coutinho

Mumbai, 10 Jun 2014: Konkani Catholic Association Nallasopara ® (KCAN) organized school books and writing materials distribution programme to economically-weaker students at St Francis De Sales School auditorium, Nallasopara (East) here on Sunday June 8.
KCAN president Harry B Coutinho presided the programme.
KCAN founder advisor Fr Joe Rebello was the chief guest of the occasion.
St Francis De Sales assistant parish priest Fr Kinalia Lopes and St Francis De Sales School principal Fr Johnson Saldanha was the guest of honor distributed the school books, writing materials and uniforms to needy students.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Joe said that education empowers an individual to succeed in life. It will play key role in shaping future citizens of our country.
Fr Johnson said that the quality education leads one to achieve extraordinary feats in life. The students ought to take interest in environment and inculcate cultural upbringing.
Harry said that KCAN has been distributing school books, uniforms and writing materials to needy students regardless of caste, creed and religion in Nallasopara locality since the past 17 years. At the modern competitive world, the education sphere has failed to instill quality education that is the need of hour.
KCAN executive Committee members Lilly Quadros, Lavina D’Souza, Romeo Castelino, Irene D’Souza and others were present.
The secretary Claude D’Silva introduced the guests. Richard Pinto and Ronald Pais read the names of needy students. The treasurer Alwyn F D’Souza Mudarangady compered the programme. The vice president Grace Pinto proposed vote of thanks.
