Qatar, 21 May 2024: The full-house Giwana Hall in Radisson Blu Hotel here went berserk in applause and burst into celebration as the bold and brainy, and breath-takingly beautiful Gitanjali Dey was crowned 24th May Queen by Azim Abbas on Friday, May 10. The event was organised by Goan Welfare Association in collaboration with Orbit Events and Marketing.
Stunning Kenishya Rosario was crowned first runner-up while gorgeous Masoodha Peer Mohamed was adjudged second runner-up.
Gitanjali who also walked away with the crown, was perhaps the best choice to be the 24th May Queen as her wisdom matched her beauty and sizzling smile. She walked away with Gold Necklace by Prakkat Jewellers, Doha-Bangkok-Doha airline ticket by SriLankan Airlines, Overnight stay with breakfast for two by IBIS, Lunch/Dinner voucher for two by Treffen House (Ex-Sofitel), Gift Hamper by Nasser Bin Khalid and Sons, Saree by Ria’s Fashion and Gift Hamper by Gee Creations.

All the contestants were given gift hampers by LC Waikiki. The May Queen contest was very glamorous and conducted in great style and fanfare. Each contestant was a winner in her own way with graceful looks, proud walk, witty answers and alluring smile, making it very difficult for the jury panel that consisted of Azim Abbas, Managing Director of Al-Sulaiman Jewellers and Watches, Saima Bukhari, Managing Director of HP Industries and Rashmi Agarwal, President of MAPS International.
Mr. Gyanveer Singh, Counsellor, Embassy of India, Qatar was the honourable Chief Guest.
The glittering full-house evening had lot in store in the form of surprises and prizes as the organizers showered in number of attractive prizes to the people on the dancing floor. They filled the night with spontaneous music.
It was the much-anticipated entry of ‘RAAGAS2RICHES’ that upped the mercury within the four walls of unusually cool Giwana ballroom. As ‘RAAGAS2RICHES’ belted out some of the everlasting numbers the audience stormed the dance floor setting a perfect mood for a wonderful evening. There was hardly anyone who could resist the temptation from hitting the dance floor and celebrating the evening.
Goan iconic singing sensation Mark Revlon stealed the show, who also performed, was welcomed to a warm applause. A prime example of his far-reaching impact, Mark Revlon left an indelible mark with his grand style, singing some nostalgic Goan melodies.
DJ Chris Bouvard played some scintillating dancing numbers.
As usual, Goa’s top host Updesh Swar compered the event with his unique electrifying energy and flamboyancy.
Goan Welfare Association felicitated few personalities, Ramesh Bulchandani, General Manager of LTC International Qatar and awarded him Outstanding Indian Enterpreneur, Jude Pereira, Managing Director of NANJGEL Group, UK and awarded Outstanding Global Goan Enterpreneur, Tase Crasto E Noronha from Kuwait was awarded Goan Cultural Luminary Award and Token of Appreciation given to RAAGAS2RICHES, Mark Revlon and DJ Chris Bouvard.
Lucky entrance winners were Michelle D’Silva, Lester Morgan Fernandes, Carol Saloni won Airline Tickets each Doha-Mumbai-Doha by Akasa Air and Sarah Barretto won Doha-Mumbai-Doha airline ticket sponsored by SriLankan Airlines.
At the end of the day it was a wonderful and successful May Queen Ball by Goan Welfare Association ably led by Simon D’Silva and well assisted by the GWA managing committee members presented another flawless and perfectly planned event adding one more feather into the already glittering cap of Goan Welfare Association.
