Mangaluru: Kalaakul, Konkani Theater Repertory presents Nalini Jameela’s life

Mangaluru, 07 March 2016: Kalaakul, Mandd Sobhann’s Theater Repertory, presented the life-story of Nalini Jameela, an activist and sex worker from Thrissur, Kerala, through the play – ‘Eke Veshyechi Jinnye Ko’tha’, during 171st Monthly Theater, at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar here on Sunday March 6.
Though the autobiography which has been translated in 7 languages is not translated into Konkani, Arun Raj Rodrigues, the eminent Konkani playwright has adapted the autobiography into a play in Konkani. The play directed by Christopher D’Souza Neenasam was presented to a packed audience.
Nalini Jameela was present at the performance and was honored on the occasion for her forth righteousness and courage in sharing with the world her pains and anguishes. The audience had an interaction with her after the play.
Mandd Sobhann and Sumell honored Roopith D’Souza – a young achiever and member of Sumell, for his unique achievements in NCC, athletics and music.
Eric Ozario – Gurkar, Mandd Sobhann, Kishore Fernandes – secretary, Mandd Sobhann, Sunil Monteiro – convener of Sumell, Irene Rebello – secretary of Sumell and Kavitha George – treasurer of Sumell, were present on stage.
That evening, there was an exhibition of Richard Lobo’s collection of todays and yesterdays Indian currency notes.
Cake and soft drinks were served to the audience by Rashel Priya Sequeira, on the occasion of the 50th birthday of her mother –Philomena Sequeira.
Arun Raj Rodrigues gave information about the upcoming programmes and also gave a brief introduction about the play.
