Shernon Joy Castelino - The youth with talents and big dreams

Kalmady, 07 February 2010: The youths who have inborn talents in any fields and dreams in their eyes will surely achieve their goals provided they do not lose sight of their target. There have been a number of examples where young people, in spite of their difficulties did not give up their passion to achieve their goals. This is the story of Shernon Joy Castelino who has been developing his latent talent in drawing and sketching and has discovered that he has a great interest in Computer Animation which he wants to pursue and he is confident that one day he will achieve his goal of becoming one of the leading Computer Animators in entertainment industry.

Born 8th October 1991 as the eldest son of Simon and Janet Castelino of Moodubelle, Shernon did initial studies up to 4th standard  in St. Mary’s School at Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi  and  in Mukunda  Kripa Higher Primary School at Ratha Beedhi, Udupi from 4th to 7th Standard. Shernon completed his high school studies in T.A. Pai English Medium High School, Kunjibettu, Manipal. After completing two years PUC in the MGM College, Udupi, Shernon joined Dr. T. M. A Pai Polytechnic at MIT in Manipal where he is  currently studying in the second semester of Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering.

Shernon had been interested in drawing right from the KG Classes and began to win prizes for drawing from 3rd standard in  various competitions organized by NGOs and other  institutions. He continued his interest even after completing SSLC and won prizes in drawing competitions at the MGM College, Udupi.

Sketches and water colour paintings are the chief forte of Shernon.  Earlier Shernon was interested in painting nature such as animals, birds, landmark sceneries, etc.  After 10th standard, Shernon developed keen interest in sketching and painting human portraits. Meanwhile, he tried to perfect  his skills in painting the natural scenes, animals and birds.

Shernon has more than 50 paintings and sketches that manifest his talent and caliber. He had been interested in going for a degree in 3 D computer animation course in the Manipal University. However, the exorbitant fees discouraged him from joining the course. In spite of being unable to do regular degree course in computer animation, Shernon continues his interest by using his free time in dabbling with computer animation by downloading  animation tutorials from the internet.  After completing his diploma in Computer Engineering, Shernon wants to study further in 3 D Computer Animation which has a great future in the entertainment industry in the future.

Shernon’s father, Simon Castelino from Devaragudde in  Moodubelle  has been working in Shereton Jeddha Hotel in Saudi Arabia since seven years. Shernon’s mother, Janet is a housewife and his brother, Sujith is presently studying in 9th standard in T.A. Pai English Medium School, Udupi. Both the parents are supportive of their children’s interest. Since three years they have been residing at Kalmady near Malpe.

Shernon has a keen intellect and imagination and good communication skill. He is quite active in the Indian Catholic Youth Movement in the Parish of Stella Maris, Kalmady. He is also proficeint in both computer software and hardware. Shernon wants  to make a career in programming especially in computer animation.
