Santhosh Kumar Moodubelle elected president of students action panel

Mangalore, 14 October 2010: Santhosh Kumar Moodubelle of Vaikunta Baliga Law College, Udupi, was elected president of All College Students Action Committee. Elections to the office-bearers of the committee for 2010-11 were held here on Tuesday. Student leaders from more than 95 colleges affiliated to Mangalore University and around 500 students took part in the election, said Shanti Prasad Hegde, founder president of the Committee.

 

 

Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, Hegde said Nagaraj Bhat of Upendra Pai Memorial College, Kunjibettu, Udupi is the working president, Shantha Prasad of S N U Polytechnic, Shruti of Women’s College, Udupi, and Pradeep Shetty of Bhandarkars College, Kundapur, general secretaries. The committee also has three organising secretaries, as many vice-presidents, and presidents for Udupi, DK, and Kodagu units.

 

Listing out the plan of action for the current academic year, Nagaraj Bhat said a special programme aimed at creating healthy, strong and patriotic student community would be taken up through promotion of yoga, ayurveda and acupressure programmes for the benefit of students. Yoga camps would also be organized in colleges, he said adding this programme would be inaugurated at students’ convention to be held at Kundapur shortly.

 

Plans are also afoot to organize free computer training programme for students, he said, adding that details of this programme is being worked out. Other programmes such as blood donation camps too would be held.
