Bangalore: Minister Umashree launches Mobile Konkani Bazaar to reach readers in far-flung areas

Bangalroe, 26 May 2014: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy’s ambitious project Mobile Konkani Bazaar was inaugurated here on Saturday May 24.
The state Kannada and culture minister Umashree inaugurated Mobile Konkani Bazaar during the function held at Ravindra Kala Mantap here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Umashree said that Konkani Academy has embarked on taking the literature to the door-step of readers, as the people have no time to come to Academy. She commended the innovative project conceived by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy new president Roy Castelino and hoped its success would set an example to other Academies.
Century Builders chairman and Konkani fosterer Dr P Dayanand Pai was the chief guest, said that Konkani gets fillip by Mobile Konkani Bazaar and hoped it also makes rounds in remote villages and not limit its journeys in city.
The state Kannada and culture department chief secretary Shalini Rajnish, director K A Dayanand, Academy registrar Dr Devdas Pai, Beary Sahitya Academy president B A Haneef, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy president Janaki Brahmavar, FKCI president Ida D’Cunha and others were present on the occasion.
