M’lore: Brahmashree Narayana Guru Swamy-Tulu Movie Producer Rajashekar expresses concern over

Mangalore, May 7: Rajashekar Kotian, the sandalwood actor, producer and director of Tulu movie, ‘Brahmashree Narayana Guru Swamy’ that is being screened simultaneously in theaters in city, Karkal, Bantwal and Udupi from Friday May 2, held a media conference at Pathumudi Souda, Janata Deluxe Hotel, M G Road, here on Wednesday May 7 at 12.30pm.
Addressing media persons here on Wednesday afternoon, Rajashekar who has been in film industry since the past 18 years acted in 32 movies so far, and directed the movie ‘Brahmashree Narayana Guru Swamy’ for the first time, said that this Tulu movie was painstakingly produced at a cost of over Rs 1 crore premiered in Jyoti Theater and Big Cinema in Mangalore, in theaters at Karkal, Bantwal and Udupi from Friday May 2. Meanwhile, he is in a dilemma that the viewership is extremely poor, although all the best in technology, casts and editing has been incorporated in the movie with high hopes. Brahmashree Narayana Guru Swamy has a universal appeal who had propagated brotherhood regardless of caste, creed and religion. Moreover, it was the Tulu movie that Rajashekar expected to become household name in undivided Dakshina Kannada district.
The versatile movie producer Rajashekar further said that the viewers have appreciated the movie that has message to shun superstitious beliefs and other evil practices at the light of religious practices. It’s educative to put the people on right perspective of life. Tulu cinema progressed from Yakshagana to theater and now seems saturated because it could be viewers have likening for comedy movies rather than movies that invoke religious awakening.
Rajashekar who donned the role of Chennaya in Tulu movie ‘Koti – Chennaya’ about 7 years ago appealed to the media to create mass awareness in order to bring viewers to the theaters and also viewers to express their views on the same movie.
The movie artistes Chandrashekar Suvarna, Balakrishna Shetty, Deepak Kotian, Ranjit, Gagan and others were present at the media conference.
