Mangalore : ‘Horizon 2014’ at FMMC

Mangalore, Jan 20, 2014 : ‘Horizon 2014’ , a two-day national conference was organized by the department of hospital administration of Father Muller Medical College (FMMC), Mangalore in association with Academy of Hospital Administration (AHA) on Friday January 17th and 18th of January at Decennial Memorial Hall, FMMC, Mangalore.
‘Horizon 2014’, a two-day national conference was on ‘Updates and Recent Trends in Healthcare- Plan, Reform, Innovate- The future is now. Eminent personalities from the field of health care threw light on various aspects of the recent trends in the health care sector. These two days the participants benefited immensely. It was a great learning experience for all of them.
Dr. B. Sanjeev Rai, Chief of Medical Services, Father Muller Medical Charitable Institutions presided over the inaugural function. The keynote speaker for the day was Dr Rohan Monis, Chief Medical Co-ordinator, Unity Health Complex, Mangalore. Rev. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director, FMCI presided over the function. One of the Resource Person Rtd. Maj. Gen. Dr. Srivastava, President of Academy of Hospital Administration, Rev. Fr Richard Coelho, Administrator, FMMCH, Rev. Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, Administrator, FMMC were the dignitaries on the dais.
The inaugural function commenced after the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
Dr. B. Sanjeev Rai, while addressing the gathering said, “There is a fast paced advancement in technology. There is a need to constantly update ourselves with the latest technology. It was before when healthcare providers were considered to be God and were never questioned. Now, because of the changing trends and advancement in technology the patients are aware about the diseases and medicines. Therefore, as medical professionals we need to be aware of the developments in the field of health care.”
Dr Rohan Monis during his key note address said, “ A conference like this dissipates the real knowledge among the participants about the health care sector, its engagements, interdependency issues, multidisciplinary formats and synergistic relationship with governmental agencies and with all the stakeholders in the interest of benefitting beneficiaries who are in radar screen.”
He added, “An organization can be identified to be the best only with the Voice of the Customers(VOC). Consumerism is the talk of the day and the customer is considered to be the king. It is our responsibility to ensure better health care to the patients. As health care professionals we need to develop our knowledge in this field. It is important to have a right leader in the right place to get the right outcome.”
Rev. Fr Patrick Rodrigues said that the health care professionals need to cope up with the changing health care system. He said, “ In this competitive world we need to know where do we stand and make ourselves competent enough.”
During the occasion Horizon- 2014 souvenir was released by Rtd. Maj. Gen. Dr. Srivastava.
