Moodubelle: Geetha Mandir inaugurated by Dr. B.M. Hegde

Moodubelle, 11 September 2010: The Geetha Mandir, renovated by Srvodaya Trust was inaugurated by Dr. B.M. Hegde, the former Vice Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Health Education (MAHE) on Friday, 10th September 2010. The inauguration function was presided over by M.B. Puranik-VHP Mangalore Vibhaga Sanchalak. The guests of honour included: Fr. Joswey fernandes, Parish Priest of Moodubelle, Keshava Gowda-Director of Shri Kshetra Dharmasshtala Village Development Programme, Gerald Fernandes-President of the Social Justice Committee, udupi Zilla Panchayat and Mrs. Jacintah Aranha, President of the Belle Grama Panchayat.
In his address following the inauguration of the Geetha Mandir, Dr. B.M. Hegde said that he had earlier laid the foundation of the same Geetha mandir when its built some years ago. He expressed happiness at the fact that people belonging to different religious communities were present for the inaugural function. He lamented the hatred that exists in the society in many parts of the country. He appreciated the communal harmony and cooperation that exists in the villages of Moodubelle, Kattingeri and Padubelle and expressed hope that all people throughout the country would live in harmony and happiness irrespective of their castes and creeds.
P.D. Kamat welcomed the guests and the audience and Devdas Hebbar conducted the programme and presented the vote of thanks. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival and the cultural programmes that start from Saturday, 11th September 2010 are being held in the newly renovated Geetha Mandir.
