Mumbai: Malaika Group organizes Senior Citizens Get-together at Mira Road Parish

Mumbai, 6 Jan 2013: At the prevailing situation of elderly neglect in the society, there lies the greater need to show respect them.  The youth community has to restore confidence in elderly to lead contented living.  It would be humanitarian deed to keep the elderly happy who have retired from active life.  These kinds of get-togethers indeed helpful for the youth to motivate them to revive hope in elderly, said Malaika Group chairman Gilbert Baptist.

 
Gilbert was speaking during annual friendly get-together of elderly which was organized by metro-based Malaika Multi-State Co-operative Credit Society at St Joseph’s parish lawns, Mira Road, here on Saturday January 4 evening. 

 
The elder deserve better status in the society.  The society has to be humane to elderly, whether parents, grand parents or who ever aged persons.  The elderly should be cared in families to lead happy lives rather than join them into old age homes.  Malaika Group has been attempting to promote happiness among the elderly by organizing annual get-togethers in this regard, said Gilbert.

 
Gilbert also released ‘Kun va Jivgat’ Konkani story book authored by Naveen Kulshekar.

 

 
Konkani veteran litterateur and poet V D’Silva Kanjurmarg, Joseph Paul, John G Mendonca Amboli, the renowned social activist Nancy I Sequeira, Ignatius Sequeira Allipade, St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association Mira Road president John Crasta, honorary secretary Arun Noronha, treasurer Lawrence Mathias, Diego Rodrigues, Richard Mathias, John Correa and others were present on the occasion.

 
Loyal Baptist, Alphonse Corda, Noel Mascarenhas and others were present on the occasion.

 
Malaika Group director Marcelina G Baptist welcomed the gathering and distributed the prizes to the winners.  Naveen Kulshekar compered the programme.

 
A laughter session was presented by Felix D’Souza Malwani and group as part of entertainment programme.  Nelson Rodrigues Mulund, Gregory Rebeiro and Advocate Robert Mendonca staged Konkani musical concert on the occasion.
