Hassan: Journalists should have basic knowledge to innovate on report - Venkateshamurti

Hassan, 9 Nov, 2013 : A journalist should have basic knowledge to innovate while filing a report, said Janata – Kannada daily editor and Kannada Rajyotsav award recipient R P Venkateshamurti.

 


 
Venkateshamurti was speaking after inaugurating a discussion meet that was organized by department of mass community and journalism of Women’s Government First Grade College and district working journalists’ Association, at Women’s College auditorium here on Friday November 8.


 
Venkateshamurti further said that there are many journalists who are fully committed or the welfare of society. One should not go after the awards, instead it will come during the course of time, if one is totally dedicated in his profession and its ethics, said Venkateshamurti.   He also expressed concern over degeneration of values in the society.  The journalism is a vast sphere, while a journalist has to grasp the situations and act upon.  A journalist should have wide knowledge and understand the background of situation or personality in filing crisp report.  He urged the journalism students to strive for bringing newness in the sphere which is in crossroads, urged Venkateshamurti.


 
The journalist Vasanti Hariprakash said that all those who are willing to work in media should be strong-willed and courageous.  Besides, they should have the perspective of looking into a concept in different angles.  The journalism students should cultivate the habit of questioning which will help them in filing better reports, said Vasanti.


 
The College principal Professor H N Roopraj Chandan and Association office bearers felicitated Venkateshamurti for bagging Kannada Rajyotsav award on the same occasion.

 

Professor Chandan presided the function.

 

 
Professor Dr M N Nirwani Gowda, Lokappa Gowda, Mahesh, Kusuma, physical education director M A Prakash, mass communication department head Dilip Kumar, lecturer Sandesh K R and others were present on the occasion.
