Udupi: Lectures & Cultural Show mark first day of State level Girls NSS Camp at Moodubelle

Udupi, 7 Nov 2013: The lectures and cultural extravaganza was held on the first day of state level girls NSS camp at St Lawrence PU College, Moodubelle, near here on Tuesday November 5.
Udupi zilla panchayat former president Gerald Fernandes presided the function here on Wednesday evening.
Gerald said that Manipal has become a hub of education and healthcare services and known worldwide. He urged NSS volunteers to make use of their opportunities for better future, urged Gerald.
Moodubelle – St Lawrence PU College alumni Association president Devdas Hebbar delivered lecture on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Devdas said that NSS has taught him brotherhood. Udupi district is one among 30 district in Karnataka, which comprises 3 taluks – Kundapur, Udupi and Karkala; that is inclusive of 146 gram panchayats and 3 taluk panchayats. It has coast of 105 kilometers. Its landscape includes palm, areca, plantain while the jasmine of Shankarapura us world famous. It has a population of 12 lac.
Moodubelle parish council former vice president Henry Fernandes was the chief guest of the occasion.
Moodubelle - St Lawrence College principal Fr Paul Sequeira, St Lawrence English Medium School principal Fr Raj and zilla panchayat member Ida Gilbert D’Souza were present on the dais.
Udupi Tahsildar T G Guruprasad, was present.
NSS project officer Edward Larson in his introductory address said that there are people from Moodubelle who have excelled in sports and other spheres in the nation and overseas.
St Lawrence PU College lecturer Naveen Correa welcomed the gathering. Charles Quadros introduced the guests. St Lawrence PU College lecturer Shanbagh compered the programme. Joseph D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.
