Mangalore: Rajasthan Guv Margaret Alva inaugurates CASK Centenary Celebrations

Mangalore, 23 Sep 2013: Rajastan Governor Margaret Alva launched the centenary celebrations of Catholic Association of South India (CASK), a laity organization at a glittering function held at Milagres auditorium, here on Sunday September 22.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Margaret hailed the contributions of Catholic to diverse fields ranging from health care to education. She also gave a clarion call to protect and promote the art, culture and traditions of the Catholic community and emphasized the need to document them. There is also a need for research in the field, said Governor Margaret.
The union minister for transport, road and highways Oscar Fernandes was the chief guest of the occasion. He stressed the need to build a strong society on the foundation of peace and harmony.
Mangalore south MLA J R Lobo said there is growing need to create a platform whrein the members join to discuss their problems and find solutions to the same. He also hailed the contributions of CASK to the community.
Mangalore Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza graced the occasion.
Pune-based Rosary Education Group chairman Vivek Aranha was also present as chief guest.
CASK president Dr Derek Lobo and secretary Captain John Prasad Menezes was present at the dais.
The ceremony also marked the release of a four-hundred-page book ;100 Year History of CASK and the Mangalorean Catholic Community authored by John Monteiro.
Governor Margaret released the book, while minister Oscar launched CASK website.
Bishop Dr Aloysius unveiled the plaque of the centenary memorial office.
Scholarship was distributed to the talented students on the occasion.
