Udupi: YCS Udupi Varado held YCS Samavesh & Sahamilan successfully

Udupi/Katapady 16 Sep 2013: ‘YCS Samavesh and Sahamilan’ of YCS Udupi Varado was held on 15th of September 2013 at St. Vincent De Paul Church Katapadi hosted by YCS Katapadi Unit. The event was attended by 88 students from 6 different parishes belonging to Udupi Deanery.


The inaugural function was presided over by St. Vincent De Paul Parish Priest Fr. Lawrence D’Almeida. Fr. Anil D’Costa - Director of YCS/YSM Udupi Varado, Mr. Norbert Misquith – resource person of the day, Ms. Diana Monteiro – Animator of YCS Katapadi Unit, Ms. RosaliaCardoza – Member NEXCO National Council Shilong, Mr. Judson Monteiro – President of YCS Katapadi Unit and Ms. Steffi Fernandes – Secretary of YCS Katapadi Unit were present during the inauguration.

 

The event was given a start by lighting lamp. Fr. Edwin Dsouza – Youth Director Udupi Diocese introduced the resource person Mr. Norbert Misquith to the gathering. Fr. Anil addressed the students regarding the day’s importance. Mr. Judson Monteiro welcomed the gathering. The entire event was compeered by Ms. Elveera Machado of Katapadi Unit.

 

 

Following the inaugural function was a talk from Mr. Norbert Misquith that involved students in group discussions and kept them lively throughout. The talk was followed by Eucharistic Celebration especially for the YCS students by Fr. Edwin and co-celebrated by Fr. Anil which included a beautiful sermon from Fr. Edwin.

 

After lunch the students of different parishes had to exhibit their talents via skit and song/dance. Skit had to be such that it gives us all a message from bible but depending on the current living context. Judges for the event were Mr. Leslie Aroza, Thottam and Ms. Ida Cornelio, Shankerpura.

 

Winners of the cultural event were YCS Katapadi Unit, while Moodubelle unit and Perampalli unit were the first and second runner up respectively. All the other participating units were given consolation prizes.

 

Ms. Steffi Fernandes, Secretary of YCS Katapadi Unit expressed gratitude towards all. The event was concluded with YCS anthem.
