Shirva:Inter-Collegiate dance competition inaugurated at St. Mary’s College

Shirva, 2 August 2010: The inauguration function of two day’s inter-collegiate dance competition “Nrithyotsava-2010” jointly organised by the Students’ Welfare Association of the Mangalore University and St. Mary’s College, Shirva was held in the St. Mary’s College Hall on Monday 2 August 2010 at 9.30 am. The competitions are being conducted on 2 and 3 August 2010.
The formal inaugural ceremony was conducted by Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Director of Sandesha Cultural and Educational Trust, Mangalore by lighting the lamp. Dr. Paul Rego, Professor of Economics, Mangalore University was the chief guest. Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, Correspondent of the Shirva Parish educational Institutions was the guest of honour. Other guests included: Dr. J.C. Miranda, Principal of St. Mary’s College, Shirva, Principal Felix Andrade of St. Mary’s Junior College, Shirva, Prof. Vincent D’Souza, Director, Students’ Welfare Association, St. Mary’s College, Shirva and Fr. Edwin D’Souza, Organizer, Nrithyotsava, St. Mary’s College, Shirva, Melwyn Aranha, president of the Old Students’ Association, Ln. Mario Mathais-president of Shirva Lions Club and also secretary of the Old Students’ Association, Urban-president of ‘SWAK’-Kuwait, Norbert Machado-vice president of Shirva Parish Council and others.
Around 1000 students and guests attended the inaugural function of the two days inter-collegiate dance competition. Forty-three colleges from the jurisdiction of the Mangalore University are participating in this prestigious ‘Nrithyotsava-2010’.
