‘Konkani Museum can showcase the essence of culture’

Mangalore, 16 Jun 2013: Konkani Museum, a mega project by Mandd Sobhann was inaugurated by NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist Ronald Colaco by unveiling the museum logo at Hotel Ocean Pearl here on Saturday.
Chief guest James Mendonca, president of Mangalore Konkans of Dubai released the brochure.
After inaugurating the project, Ronald Colaco said that the Konkani Museum project is a very good and bold step taken by Mandd Sobhann, through which the true beauty and essence of the culture can be showcased.
Gurkar of Mandd Sohbann Eric Ozerio briefed about the largest Konkani Museum to the gathering.
Eric said that the Konkani Museum will be a world-class anthropological museum which will be displaying the Konkani artefacts, implements, instruments, costumes, ornaments, customs and traditions, festivals and celebrations, architecture, lifestyle, cuisine trade and occupation.
On the occasion, Colaco gifted Rs 80 lac (for 25 cents of land for the museum) to Mandd Sobhann.
James Mendonca, state forest, ecology and environment minister Ramanath Rai, MLA J R Lobo, Ashok Mendonca, architect of the project spoke on the occasion.
Louis J Pinto, Fr William Menezes, Fr Boniventure Nazareth, Naveen Lobo, Basti Vaman Shenoy, Raghunath Shet, Roy Castelino, Eric Correa and others were present.
President of Mandd Sobhann Stany Alvares welcomed the gathering. Mandd Sobhann secretary Irene Rebello delivered the vote of thanks. Arun Raj Rodrigues mastered the programme.
