Kundapur: Burglars Decamp with 12 Kg Silver-Sheets adorning Sanctuary of Varamahaswamy Temple, Marav

Kundapur, 11 Jun 2013: The burglars burgled the historical Varahaswamy temple, Maravante, near here and decamped with silver-sheets affixed to 3 sanctuaries of Lrd Varaha, Lord Vishnu and Lord Narasimha, altogether worth 12 kilograms, on Sunday June 9 night.

 


The silver-sheets were donated by Hubli based entrepreneur R N Shetty during 2002 at a cost of Rs 1.60 lac. The burglars have taken away the doors till the bank of Souparnika River, where they separated the silver-sheets using wooden-reap and decamped.  The policemen found the wooden doors abandoned as the sniffer-dog traced it.


Kundapur DySP Yashoda Ventagodi and circle-inspector Manjunat Koure, Gangolli sub-inspector Sampat Kumar visited the spot.
Gangolli police registered a complaint lodged by the temple managing trustee Ramachandra Hebbar.
