Mangalore,14 Mar 2013: The diocesan authorities felicitated the newly-elected peoples representatives who have won the recent civil polls during a function held at Bishop’s House auditorium here on Thursday March 14.
Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza presided the felicitation function here on Thursday evening.
Bishop Dr Aloysius felicitated 15 elected Christian representatives of civic polls:
Lancelot Pinto, Sabitha Misquith, Naveen D’Souza, Jacinta Alfred, Gretta Asha D’Silva, A C Vinayaraj, Basil D’Souza, Jane Shanthi D’Souza, Eliza Menezes, Anil Cyprian Lobo, P K Thomas, James D’Souza, Leena Mascarenhas, Sunita Monteiro and Jacinta D’Souza at the occasion.
Bishop Dr Aloysius urged the elected representatives to serve their respective wards with integrity and loyalty, upholding Christian values.
Speaking on the occasion, M P Noronha urged the elected representatives to be humane in addressing the grievances of people, especially poor and downtrodden in their respective wards. The Christian values and secular outlook will steadfastly see them through tough times ahead in serving the people, said M P Noronha.
M P Noronha also advised to set up a helpline by the laity to help the community in availing state benefits. The political empowerment of community will have far reaching benefits for new generation.
The city lawyer M P Noronha, Mangalore Pradesh Catholic Sabha secretary Nigel, the diocesan pastoral council president Gerald D’Costa, chancellor Fr Henry Sequeira, vicar general Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu, Fr J B Crasta were present at the dais.
Sr Cecilia Mendonca invoked the prayers. The diocesan PRO Fr William Menezes welcomed the gathering and proposed vote of thanks.
