Hassan: Alert Passenger Thwarts Miscreants Attempt to Blow up KSRTC Bus at Somavarapete Terminus

Hassan, 28 Feb 2013: A live-petrol-bomb was detected below the seat of parked state-run parked KSRTC bus at their Somavarpete terminus, near here on Wednesday February 27 afternoon. The presence of mind of a passenger averted a major tragedy.
An attempt was made to blow up the KSRTC bus plying on Harihar – Shimoga – Somavarpete – Madikeri. The efforts of miscreants were foiled by an alert passenger despite they lighted the fire to the long detonators.
Background of case:
The explosives were detected in KSRTC bus that arrived at Somavarapete bus terminus, near here on Wednesday at 4.00pm. A passenger by the name Santosh who boarded the bus to go to Igoor village was alarmed by smell of agarbatti alerted the bus conductor. When the bus conductor checked the entire bus, he found a box wrapped with newspapers and a live fire slowly moving towards the box, lying below one of the seats. The explosives that are used to blow up boulders were wrapped in a box and lighted with cotton rope. The conductor extinguished the fire and took the box out of the bus.
The hundreds of people arrived at the spot, while the policemen took the box into their custody. When opened they found two bottles of petrol, are connected with wires and cotton rope.

It’s an act of miscreants:
The state minister Appacchu Ranjan reacting to the incidence, said that it was an act of miscreants with the motive of creating law and order disturbance. He has instructed police force to take stern action on the accused. It’s the first time such incidence was reported from Somavarapete, which has to stem from the root itself. He urged the people not to be apprehensive over the incidence.
