Udupi: City Bus Employees go on Surprise Stir alleging assault on a colleague by Bus Owner

Udupi,12 Feb 2013: The city buses stalled their services in a surprise protest alleging a bus owner has assaulted the staff of another bus, here on Monday February 11 morning.
The organizers of Srinivas Kalyanotsav had arranged free bus services between Malpe – Udupi, for the benefit of innumerable devotees here on Sunday February 10. Accordingly, HMT bus picked up the devotees from bus stand and left for Malpe. Meanwhile, the owner of the bus that arrived later assaulted HMT bus employees, citing they suffered losses since there were no passengers. The city buses employees collectively staged a protest here on Monday February 11 morning, hurling sloguns against the bus owner who assaulted their colleague.
The hundreds of daily commuters were inconvenienced owing to surprise stir staged by city bus employees. Udupi circle inspector Maruti Naik urged the agitating staff to return to their duties, since it was affecting the daily commuters. The agitators did not heed to his pleas.
Meanwhile, RTO arrived at the spot and admonished them to show their badges issued by Regional Transport Authority. The agitators who were enthusiastically participating in stir quietly left the spot and returned to their duties.
