Abu Dhabi, 13 January 2013: Konkani Prayer Group members had a good fun filled picnic along with their family members and friends at the Baniyas Garden here on Friday.
Konkani Prayer Group of St. Joseph’s Parish of Abu Dhabi provide selfless and unlimited service to the entire community serving as ushers, volunteers, communion leaders and are involved A to Z of service at the Cathedral. Their yeoman service is praiseworthy and appreciated by all who have been benefitted immensely also via a lot charity works they do besides service each mass at the Cathedral through out the year.
Once in a year they take a one day break during this winter season and as planned before they set out this Friday to a nearby Banyas Garden to have a stress-free day out to indulge themselves in little fun along with their family members.
The day long outing began with a short prayer at 10:00am followed by forming of groups to conduct the games efficiently. Interestingly, they kept some funny names to the eight groups such as: Kombo, Kombi, Virus, Konkani Tiger, Porzol, Giriraja, Fungus and Kurumere.
A lot of games were played out and had a variety of entertaining sessions through out the day. The morning session involved Dodging the ball, Creating of statues with paper cuttings and all time fun game Tug-of-war.
A delicious lunch was served courtesy: Shaheen Restaurant for all those attended the picnic.
In the afternoon session a few skits were organized namely: Chinese Restaurant, Fish Market, Modern Beggar, Ad and Konkani Culture. All skits were presented wonderfully by each group. There were also a few interesting items such as Weighing the Water Melon, Counting Chocolates and memory test on number of vegetables. All the vegetables were finally auctioned and Joel Crasta won the bidding for highest bidder.
The group: Giriraja accumulated the highest point at the end of the day and declared the winner. The prize distribution was followed by Vote of Thanks by Robert Cardin.
Over all it was indeed a great refreshing day for KPG members from their hard week long duties and services at the St. Joseph’s Cathedral of Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.
