Grand World Kannada Cultural Convention – 2012 begins in ADIS Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi; 16 December 2012: The most popular the world Kannada Convention began yesterday at the Sk. Zayed Stadium of Abu Dhabi Indian School with a grand cultural show from the troupes especially arrived from Karnataka. The grand show will continue today (Saturday) from 5pm onwards and will have the more cultural and comedy shows.
The magnificent event began with a grand procession of dignitaries and artists from Bangalore, Mumbai and Belgaun especially flown for the show in a tradition band. The dignitaries were Padmashree Dr. B.R. Shetty (MD NMC Group and Patron of Kannadigas of U.A.E), Mr. Sudhir Kumar Shetty (COO, Global UAE Xchange Centre), Leo Rodrigues (Al Mazrouri and Clevy), Mr. Ronald Pinto (Hysna International), Mr. Lancy Mascarenhas (Lancy Constructions, Engineers, Builders and Promoters), Prof.M Kudari & Team, Vidhushi Brinda B S & Team, Dr.Vasudha Srinivas & Team, Nruthya Lahari Kala Kendra, Bangalore, Shri E V Sathyanarayana & Group, Abhinaya Institute of Research & Fine Arts, Mumbai, Kala Ratna Dr.Rama Reddy, Bangalore, Hulikalu Nataraj & Group, Bangalore, Dr.K B Nagoor (International Awardee) at Sheikh Zayed Auditotium, Abu Dhabi Indian School, Abu Dhabi and all other dignitaries and members of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha led by Mr. Sarvotham Shetty.
The Inauguration of 9th World Kannada Cultural Convention began with lighting of traditional lamp by HE Indian Ambassador to U.A.E Mr. M.P. Lokesh followed by Padmashree Dr. B.R. Shetty, Prof. Malleshpuram G. Venkatesha.
Speaking on the occasion Ambassador M.P. Lokesh said even though we had invited CM of Karnataka he could not come and also it is very critical he might lose his seat if moves out of Karnataka. He also Praiced Mr. Sarvotham Shetty for organizing such a grand convention and he will write to Govt. of Karnataka for grants for the cultural and sahitya events to be held in U.A.E. Dr. B.R. Shetty, said today Abu Dhabi is one of the most stable city or U.A.E. although there were effects of recession felt all over the world, U.A.E. is progressing tremendously. He also said all measures are taken for construction of a new Indian School in Mussafah Abu Dhabi as demand for admission is much more than the seats available at the current premises.The beautiful Welcome Song was sung by Divya Sharma & Group followed by Welcome Dance by "Pushpanjali" by Gana Nruthya Koustubha, Abu Dhabi.Mr. Lancy Mascarenhas, Mangalore for his Social Service, Mr. Ramesh Shet (Social Service), Mr. Narayana Suverna (Governance), Mr. Hala Swami K.T. (Governance), Mr. Yakoob Khadar Gulyadi (Sankeerna), Kalaratna Shri Rama Reddy Bangalore (Social Service), Ms. Rudrani Bangalore (Social Service) and Mr. Vilesh Neelanooru, Davangere (Social Service).
The inauguration was followed by variety of entertainment & Cultural Programmes such as Nruthya Roopaka - by Nupura Kala Samsthe, Dharawada (Vidhushi Brinda B S & Team), Sugama Sangeetha - by Chaithanya Arts Academy, Bangalore (Dr.Vasudha Srinivas & Team), Kathakkali Nruthya - by Kum.Kruthika Dayanand, Bagakote, Karnataka, "Huttidare Kannada Nadalli Huttabeku" - by Donald Pinto & Group UAE, Vishwa Kannada Sammelana Prashasthi Pradhana, Dr.Rajkumar ondu Sihi Nenapu By Veena Mallya & Group (ADKS)
Hachchevu Kannadada Deepa by Kum.B G Yukthi, Bangalore, was one of the finest dance performances and received a huge round of applause. It was indeed a great performance in honour of Karnataka. The entertainment was followd by Kavi Ghosti led by Prof.M Kudari & Team in which wonderful poems were read out followed by more entertainment by Nruthya Roopaka "Chamundeshwari" - by Nruthya Lahari Kala Kendra, Bangalore, Janapada Nruthya "Suggi Kunitha" - by Jasmitha Vivek, UAE. Hashya Lahari by Kotresh Kidlike had the audience rib tickling comedy and stress relief medicine.
It was time to discuss serious issues in forums such as Anivasi Kannadigara Ghosti and Maadhyama Ghosti. In the NRI forum headed by Mr. Sudhir Kumar Shetty discussed the issues such as Labour Disputes, Labour Agent cheating in India by Mr. Ravi Shetty from Qatar, whereas Mr. Ravi Rai (NMC VP HR) said that we have sent this year $70 million from U.A.E to India and what we get in return is peanuts. We have several schemes set up but they are all yet to be implemented. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Herman Louise of Radio Spice said we created a new forum called Gulf Kannadiga a few years back and then Karnataka Government representative Captain Karnik promised to solve some of the main issues within three days and it is now three years, nothing happened and the issues are still pending as it is and in between many governments fell and new set up. He further said, we have the capacity to solve our own problems if we have a will and determination. We have to have our own NRI hospitals, institutions to solve our own problems as we can‘t wait endlessly for our government to solve our problems. Let us think seriously about these issues and find out the solutions by ourselves, he said.
Mr. Sudhir Kumar Shetty said today Suicide ration in India is alarming as more than 500 suicide deaths takes every year. The dependents in India feel that their bread winner has large sums of money and family back home keeps on demanding more and more things and ultimately he is burdened by huge loans over here and he has no means to settle them. He requested family members back home think of the situation of the person over here and live a limited life as per your earnings and resources. He also pointed out huge loans taken out via credit cards and misery it has created to our brothers over here and many have ended their life due to inability of payments.
Later on Media Forum was held and discussed good and bad publicities and how current media works instead of providing good social media it runs after the money and some news papers are controlled by political leaders said one of the main speakers Mr. Manohar Tonse.
The programs of day one ended with Yakshagana and the program will continued on saturday.
