Karnataka Sangha Sharjah’s ‘Mayura Cup’ Tourney a great success

Sharjah, 24 November 2012: Karnataka Sangha Sharjah successfully organized of Throw ball, Volleyball and Kabaddi open tournament involvingng all Kannadiga teams from all over U.A.E at the Wonderers Club in Sharjah. It was a perfect shiny day for all players to enjoy the games having quite good weather. Karnataka Sangha Sharjah are the pioneers to start the sports activities in Sharjah Wonderers Club grounds. Also this year they are celebrating their decennial year of formation of the association. Large crowds gathered to witness the best teams fight each other to clinch the top honour and they were nail biting finishes.
In the closely contested matches, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha won over Bunts Dubai brilliantly in Ladies Throw Ball match while Bunts Dubai defeated Konkans Dubai in Mens Throw Ball and.The Seamens Friends team took away Volley ball championship from Karaval Milan in straight two set finish. In an exiting Kabaddi match New Mark Dubai defeated Rama Khathriya U.A.E to lift the Kabaddi trophy.
The inaugural ceremony began at 9.30 AM with Mr. Ganesh Rai making his early morning announcement inviting all the teams (11 teams in Volley ball and 9 teams in Ladies Throw ball, 8 teams in Men’s Throwball and 7 teams in Kabaddi ), to stand in front of the dais. The president of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah Mr. Satish Poojary escorted the chief guests Sahana Kumari, high jump queen who has come all the way from Mangalore ,Mr. Walter Nandalike Mr. Harish Sherigar and Mr. Mark Denis D’Souza to the dais.
Chief guests inaugurated the sports by lighting lamp and called upon the all the team participants to show the spirit of the games and maintain the dignity of sportsmanship. Vincent Fernandes and his Mogachi Laraan troupe sang meaningful patriotic song and two little angels Vidhisha and Viola from Dubai performed a wonderful welcome dance. Earlier Mr. Satish Poojary president of Sharjah Karnataka Sangha expressed his thoughts and thanked everyone who contributed to organize this mega event. Mark Denis D’Souza honoured chief guest Sahana Kumari for her outstanding performance in high jump event. In response Sahana thanked all the association and individual who helped her financially and encourage her to perform better in the sports field. Roshan D’Souza administered the oath taking ceremony. Gurudeva Srikshetha swamiji of Udiyoor and Amma mathananda graced the occasion and wished every success for the tournament.

Men Throw Ball Teams:
Mangalore Konkans, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Kanarites Dubai, Mogaveers UAE, Bunts Dubai , , Konkans Dubai, SMMKC Sharjah and Pacific Stars.
Volley Ball Teams:
Saifa Chilly Willy Friends, ULO Syatems, Karaval Milan, Chilly Willy Youngster, Seamens A & B, Coorg Friends, Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, Mogaveers UAE, Panemangalore and Ace Spikers
Kabaddi Teams :
Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, Mogaveers UAE, Rama Kshathriya, Mew Mark A & B, Green Star Coorg and Billava Balaga.
All league matches were completed before lunch time and after noon was spared for the much awaited Semi finals and finals between the best teams.
The afternoon vegetarian lunch buffet was arranged by Woodlands Restaurant, Sharjah.. Also the snacks counters were serving the delicious food throughout the day.
The prominent personalities including chief guest Sahana Kumari, Mr. Ibrahim and others were present for the concluding ceremony .Mr. Ganesh Rai master of ceremony of the tournament thanked all sponsors, well wishers, media representatives, participating teams and the referees were felicitated.
Sudhakar Alva, Satish Shetty, Mrs. Jessy,Naveen, Dancy, Moideen and team ,Ganapathi Rao and Lokanath were officiated the tournament in a excellent manner. He also thanked members of organizing committee and finally to all spectators without their support the tournament would not have been possible. He also rendered special thanks to Sudhakar Alva and Noel D’Almeida for ably conducting the whole day tournament and they received a big round of applause.
At the concluding ceremony the trophies were distributed to winning teams and also individual trophies were given to all finalists by the sponsors and prominent personalities.

Karnataka Sangha Sharjah has arranged glittering trophies of which the winners and the runners-up. Other than that the winners were felicitated with cash prizes of Dhs.1,000/- each and runners-up with Dhs.750/- each. All the team members were individually honoured with medals.
Various other special games were conducted for children to keep them busy during tournament and also gave away the special prizes. Also the spectators and team member were honored with some special give away.
It is really appreciable the spirits of all the members of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah who have put in all their efforts behind the successful tournament under the leadership of Noel D’Almeida and Sudhakar Alva. The whole day the events concluded around 8.30 pm.
