Moodubelle: ‘Kasab’s hanging won’t bring back son’
Moodubelle, 21 Nov 2012: The aged parents of Faustine Martis, the former employee of Mumbai Taj Hotel who lost his life in the deadly terror attack of 26/11 are in the midst of emotional contentment and also displeasure.
They say their loss cannot be substituted by anything, not even by Ajmal Kasab’s hanging to death.
As many as 10 Taj Hotel employees were killed in the attack and Martis’s daughter Priya who was also an employee in the same hotel was saved unhurt by NSG commandos two days later.
Paustine Martis
Faustine Martis was working as head steward in Sea Lounge restaurant in Taj Hotel and was aged 47 when he succumbed to death. Speaking to Faustine’s mother Alice Martis said, “We are happy with the decision taken by the government of hanging Kasab to death. The peace would be far greater if he was hanged immediately after the terror attack. The expenditure government spent on him is sheer waste.
Instead, this amount could have been utilised to help out poor and disabled people. We have lost our son and nothing can make us happy. It’s already four years we are living without him,” she said as tears rolled down her cheeks. She also said that Kasab’s hanging won’t bring back her son.
Valerian Martis and Alice Martis
Faustine Martis’ father Valerian Martis and Alice Martis live in Kattingeri in Moodubelle. Valerian Martis was happy that Faustine’s mother is celebrating her birthday on the day when Kasab is being hanged. The soul of Kasab who had taken the life of our son should not live in peace. The loss is unbearable. We are slowly coming into terms and realising the fact that we have to lead our rest of life without Faustine, he added.
Alice said there should not be repetition of similar disaster again. My daughter in law Precilla and Priya are both working in Mumbai and they called us in the morning to tell us about Kasab’s death. Priya is inconsolable even now as her dad had to give up his life as he had come back to Taj to save her from the tragedy. He had called us prior to tell us that he and Priya are safe and both will come out without any problem. However, everything turned out to be catastrophe, she added.

One criminal has met with the ends of justice. But there are several on the way. Capital Punishment, and it must be speedy to help the country free from such criminal minded. Delay gives strength to the crimnal minded to do more crimes and national economy also gets eroded. Law must have its hand and in just time. | |
